DETAILED PATIENT EXAMS

Each patient receives a through 16 point physical exam that includes body condition scoring, dental examination and grading, and a patient pain score. In addition, we stress the importance of annual wellness blood profiles and other diagnostic screening suitable to your pet's age and breed.

EMERGENCY AND CRITICAL CARE

Our experienced staff is always prepared to offer emergency care during regular business hours. After hours, we use the services of a local, fully staffed emergency center just minutes from our hospital. For hospitalized and surgery patients, we are able to provide intensive care with direct doctor care and technician support.

SURGERY

We offer the most advanced surgical techniques and technology. All patients are carefully screened for safety, and anesthetics are specifically tailored to your pet. All surgical patients have pre-anesthetic blood testing performed, and all are monitored closely by a staff technician and electronic monitoring equipment during the procedure. To minimize bleeding, we use a high frequency radiosurgery unit for almost all incisions and for cautery of blood vessels.

RIGID ENDOSCOPY/LAPAROSCOPY

High-tech fiber optics technology aids in the direct visualization, biopsy, and surgical manipulation of many of your pet’s internal structures and organs. This allows our doctors to perform minimally invasive diagnostics and surgical procedures on areas that are otherwise very difficult to access. Many procedures that once required major surgery are now able to be done much more quickly, with less potential for complications, and with much more rapid recovery time for the patient.

FULLY STOCKED PHARMACY

We maintain a fully stocked pharmacy with over 225 prescription drugs and dosages, 60 over the counter products, and a full line of prescription diets for patients with specific dietary needs. We also utilize a specialty pharmacy that can compound many drugs into different forms and dosages if needed.

ULTRASOUND

This non-invasive, state-of-the-art technology uses sound waves to painlessly examine specific internal organs, primarily the heart and abdominal organs. Pregnancy exams are also available. Ultrasound is also used to obtain biopsies of internal organs with less risk than surgical procedures.

SPECIALIZED SURGERY

Our veterinarians are well-experienced in many aspects of veterinary surgery, including abdominal procedures, thoracic procedures, orthopedics, ocular procedures, neurosurgery, and surgical oncology. In addition to our major surgery, our experienced surgeons also perform all "routine" procedures with equal care and a very low complication rate.

RADIOLOGY

Radiology – or X-rays – help our veterinarians evaluate the musculoskeletal, cardiovascular(cardiopulmonary), gastrointestinal, reproductive and urinary systems. We utilize state of the art high frequency radiography to minimize patient exposure time and maximize diagnostic detail.

PAIN MANAGEMENT

Veterinary patients feel pain and discomfort under the same circumstances as people do. We know that recognizing and alleviating pain in animals is the essence of good patient care. All medical and surgical cases that may be uncomfortable to the patient are managed with appropriate pain control measures.

DENTAL CARE

Regular professional cleaning is important to maintaining your pet's teeth. We use modern and safe dental instrumentation and techniques to clean and evaluate each tooth thoroughly - above and below the gum line. Dental technicians polish teeth to create a smooth, lustrous tooth surface more resistant to plaque buildup. Our doctors are experienced in oral surgery techniques when the need arises.

BOARDING

We offer pet boarding for the convenience of our clients. Dog and cat areas are completely separated from one another to minimize your pet's stress while you are away. Since we are a veterinary hospital, our staff is attuned to doing everything possible to make sure your pet stays healthy and safe, but you may rest easy knowing that a staff veterinarian is readily available should your pet require attention while boarding.

ROUTINE PREVENTIVE CARE

We strive to prevent illness whenever possible. We strongly recommend twice yearly comprehensive doctor exams, with appropriate immunizations at recommended intervals. Intestinal parasite exams are performed annually on all pets, and annual heartworm tests are performed on all dogs. We also strongly recommend a yearly Wellness Profile, designed for your pet's age, to screen for a wide range of disorders and illnesses that are undetectable even with a very thorough physical exam. We will recommend a monthly parasite control program to control all common internal and external parasites of dogs and cats to prevent your pets and your family from potentially serious patasite related illnesses.

MICROCHIPPING
Microchips have helped reunite thousands of pets with their families. We offer the most widely used microchip products to increase the chances of a safe recovery.

NUTRITIONAL COUNSELING

Some pets require special food, and all pets benefit from a balanced diet. Our trained staff is available to help you choose the right diet for your pet to keep him or her happy, healthy, trim and active. Research has shown that an appropriate diet for your pet contributes greatly to your pet's quality and longevity of life. We have five certified Hill's Nutritional Advocates on staff to get your started in the right direction and answer any questions you may have.

LABORATORY DIAGNOSTICS

We have a complete in house lab for performing necessary diagnostic tests for the rapid evaluation of sick patients. In addition, we utilize an outside lab for more specialized testing and evaluation of pathology samples and biopsies. We also routinely monitor the safety and efficacy of any long-term medications that your pet may need.
